On March 10th centraljersey.com posted an article involving our president Rachel Mitzelman. Rachel is the first woman in the history of the Freehold Township Independent Fire Co. #1 to ever become president! Rachel started her volunteer career with Freehold EMS (15-21) in 2011 at the age of 16. While riding around town on the ambulance she was able to work hand in hand with the fire departments of Freehold Township (Station 16-1 and 16-2) and Freehold Borough (Station 15-1).
“I instantly fell in love with being a firefighter and giving back to my hometown in a different way,” she said. “Within my first year in the fire company, I was Firefighter 1 certified and became the secretary. I slowly worked my way up the executive chain to vice president and eventually president.” Rachel Mitzelman
After Joining out department Rachel showed promise and was dedicated to helping the residents on the west side of freehold. We are so glad that she decided to join our department and we couldn’t have asked for a better lady to be the first woman president of our fire company. We expect many good things from her presidency and we support her 100%.
Rachel has touched many hearts in the department. When I asked Vice President Michael Celano what he had to say these were his words.
“Rachel is a great leader, she has a lot of potential to grow and make the department better. She is super dedicated to the department as well as the work that she does. I am glad that I am able to work with her on a regular basis and I look forward to the success we will make this year.” -Michael Celano
